Talkin About Thursdays - Banana Slug!

I am joining my friend Genny over at My Cup 2 Yours for Talkin About Thursdays.  For today, we are to share our nature photos and the story behind them (if there is one).

So last year on our anniversary, dear husband and me went to Muir Woods. I wanted to go some place surrounded by trees.  There is something very majestic about trees.  I find them full of stability and strength.  And, as a novice photographer, I thought it would be a good place to practice my photography.  Here are my nature photos from our visit:

I love how the sunlight is coming through the trees here.

What on earth?  I think I screamed when I saw it.
My husband had to tell me what it was, a  Banana Slug if you didn't
already know.  EWWWWW!!!

I love how the light is making the leaves look a different color green here.

I couldn't figure out what the blob is on this tree.  Moss? A huge Bee hive?
If you know, please do tell!

Be sure to visit Genny at My Cup 2 Yours for more awesome nature photos!

Talkin About Thursdays - Valentines Day!

My friend Genny at My Cup 2 Yours has chosen the topic of "Valentines Day" for our Talkin About Thursdays today. This Valentines was all about family. On Saturday, we celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! We told them we were taking them out to dinner to a fancy restaurant. Instead, we invited about 30 people, hired a Taco Truck and a Mariachi Band and surprised them. Here are a few pictures:

Dad, all decked out in his purple dress shirt and shades!

My parents being serenaded by the Mariachi Band. Even though I didn't
understand a word of it, it was good!

My precious parents! They have been through much in their lives.
So thankful for them modeling true commitment and love!

On Sunday morning, I visited my nephew's church to watch him get water baptized. What a glorious site!

My Nephew, Nicholas. Doesn't he look happy?

After church on Sunday, the family gathered at my sisters for a family reunion with my uncle (who has now moved to California to be closer to us) and my aunt from Arizona, who I haven't seen in 10 years and who my mother hasn't seen in about 4 years. My mother was so happy to see her! My dad made Chili Colorado. One of my favorite dishes!

Mom, Aunt Mary, Uncle Jim

Late Sunday night my husband presented me with a gift card to Outback Steakhouse, so we could go have dinner together, just the two of us. I love dinner dates so hopefully we will be doing that soon. My children presented me with more love notes! Gotta love them.

It was a fabulous weekend filled with family, food and fun!

Five Things.....

Genny over at My Cup 2 Yours is hosting "Talking About Thursdays". I am so excited to participate and get to know new people. Today's topic is Five Things About Yourself.
  1. I am the 4th child out of a family of 5. I have two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger sister. I am basically the middle child, sandwiched between my oldest and youngest siblings.
  2. Between the ages of 12-15, I took professional roller skating lessons. I competed all over California, winning a few solo trophies, and my brother and I skated as a pair and we won 2nd place in a competition.
  3. Although I think doggies and kitties are cute, I am not much of a pet lover. I had them growing up and didn't mind them then. But as I've grown older I seem to have adopted a dislike someplace. Why then might you ask do we have a dog, had a cat, and have a bunny? Gotta bless my kids, right?
  4. I worked as a legal secretary for over 17 years after graduating from Heald Business College.
  5. I currently work at my church as the Pastoral Administrator. I love my job and I love my church family!
That's it for today. Looking forward to visiting and getting to know you all!
